Since joining the Queer Global project as a Content Producer, I’ve had the privilege of meeting queer people of colour from diverse backgrounds and helping amplify their voices.
This interview was one of those stories.
Tesh chose to share his experience because he had never encountered anyone else who had lived through such extreme and systemic abuse within the South Asian community. He hopes that by speaking openly, his story might resonate with, or provide validation for, others across the LGBTQ+ global majority who have felt similarly isolated.
The video has now reached more than 200,000 views on YouTube, with clips from the interview reaching even more people across other platforms. The numbers are encouraging, but what matters most is that a story that could easily have gone unheard found an audience.
It’s been quite a journey filming, editing, and, at times, crying while working on Tesh’s story. I’m grateful that I was able to play a small part in helping him tell it.
Most of all, I’m grateful to everyone who has trusted us with their experiences.
Thank you for sharing your stories with us. It’s a privilege to listen, learn, and help bring these voices to the people who need to hear them.
